Make your own homemade Aphid Spray

Some gardeners swear that organic insect sprays work, others say they do not. Try this concoction on your garden aphids and make up you own mind.

To make 6 pints/ 3.4 litres spray

  • 1 lb/450g elder or rhubarb leaves, or 8oz/225g wormwood leaves
  • 6 pints/ 3.4 litres water

Chop up the leaves and place in a large saucepan with 2 pints/1.15 litres water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain off the leaves, add the rest of the water and allow to cool. Transfer to a spray bottle, clearly labelled, and use against aphids as required.
