Recipes and ideas to make your own household items

Make your own homemade Household cleaner

Use this efficient cleaner on worktops and floors.

To make 1 pint/570ml

  • 16 tablespoons washing powder
  • 1 pint/570ml hot water
  • 8 floz/225ml pine oil

Mix the washing powder and water in a bucket and stir slowly until the detergent dissolves. If foam appears on the surface, stop stirring and skim off the bubbles, or wait until they dissolve. Then gradually add the pine oil, mixing well.

To use, dilute the cleaner with water for floors and surfaces and use neat on areas such as toilet bowls where bacteria flourish. Store in a labeled jar with a tight-fitting lid, out of the reach of small children.
